The shot was taken on June 8th by Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, who has been on board the International Space Station since April.
The photo shows the capital of Trapani and its port, the salt flats, Erice, and also nearby Marsala, Stagnone, Mozia and Isola Lunga and then Birgi airport and the Egadi archipelago: with Favignana and Levanzo.

The location of Isola Longa is identified by the coordinates Lat 37.87285 and Long 12.440483.
